Valentina Sellés

Qualitative Research Consultant

I am part of the qualitative research team at GAD3, where I have the pleasure of working alongside a highly professional team, applying research techniques and continuing to learn and grow professionally.

I fell in love with social and political studies after completing a Double Degree in Political Science and Sociology at Carlos III University of Madrid. During those five years, I discovered that once you enter the professional world, you do not have to choose between “feeling more like a political scientist” or “more like a sociologist”, because reality and the needs of research surprise you and allow you to be both at the same time. Perhaps one of my greatest pleasures.

With this academic background and following further experiences across different research areas, I worked as a Research Assistant at Political Watch. There, I consolidated many learnings and gained many new ones, alongside a fantastic team driven by a shared desire for change. I later had the honour of being admitted to the Master’s Degree in Political and Electoral Analysis, and UC3M once again became my academic home.

Today, I am particularly enthusiastic about the study of electoral systems and structural elements from a comparative perspective, especially in Latin America. Political communication and electoral behaviour are also among my key areas of interest. My sociological background further drives my passion for intergenerational social dynamics and the structural challenges faced by young people.

And when I am not reading a political essay or watching Sherlock Holmes for the fifth time, you will most likely find me reading a cookbook  my other great passion. Over the years, I have realised that cooking and social research have much in common: knowing how to choose the right ingredients so that each one is equally present, and the final result is unique in its own way and, of course, replicable. The key in both cases is the same: dedication, observation and the scientific method.
